Welcome to the World Wide Web site of the Center for Human Rights & Constitutional Law's Kauai Retreat Center. The Center for Human Rights is a non-profit, public interest legal foundation dedicated to furthering and protecting the civil, constitutional, and human rights of immigrants, refugees, children, and the poor.

The Center's retreat program offers non-profit groups, people engaged in social justice work, scholars, and the Center's staff and Board members a place to visit for organizational or project retreats, workshops, and personal rest and recuperation away from the day-to-day stress of their activities for social change.

We encourage use of the retreat center for 3-7 day workshops of 6-12 people on a range of social justice issues.

The retreat center is located on a private bluff property with spectacular views of the ocean framed in between classic tropical foliage (see picture to left and above, and link to photographs on this page). Whale watching is glorious from almost every room. Large and well built, this Robert Easton designed spacious three-level home has six bedrooms (1 king bed, 3 queens and 2 singles), a study, large living room and dining area, five bathrooms, sauna, and several outdoor decks and a jucuzzi overlooking the ocean. The house has exterior redwood siding and stained (weathered) redwood interiors finishes, and a beautiful garden with mature landscaping. The kitchen is equipped with high grade appliances and is fully stocked with cutlery. The living room and several bedrooms have postcard views of the ocean and surrounding tropical foilage.

In appropriate cases, use of the retreat center is made available without charge. A low fee may apply depending on the users' ability to pay. More information regarding the retreat center and how to apply to use it are available by selecting the links on this page.

Donations to support operation of the retreat center and transportation for retreats and workshop participants are encouraged and welcomed.
